About Me

For the last 20 years, my family and I have lived in Utah. We moved back to Utah after I finished my Master’s Degree in Marital and Family Therapy at Loma Linda University in California. I then began my doctorate at BYU in Instructional Psychology and Technology and finished in December of 2014. My bachelors was also at BYU in Marriage, Family, and Human Development.

My wife and I married in 2001 and we have five girls. I came from a family of five boys and my wife grew up with four brothers, so we are going through a whole new experience. We have lived in Provo for the time that we returned back to Utah.

When I began studying Marriage and Family Therapy, I was actually interested in working with children. I still work with children, but my main focus is working with their parents. I realized that the best way to help children was to help the parents, so I focused on couples therapy. My theory paper (comparable to a thesis) for my Master’s degree was on Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy (EFT). I enjoy the challenge that working with couples brings. I feel that helping a relationship improve benefits generations to come.

My doctorate degree has improved my ability to reach out to more people. I am hoping that I can spread more knowledge about emotional and relational health. I have recently finished a book about couples therapy and am looking to see if I can get it published.

In my spare time I enjoy playing games, sports, music, and watching my kids play sports and music.
